The Freedmen's Bureau
The Freedmen's Bureau consists of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned lands. The Bureau was directed to feeding and clothing war refugees in the south using surplus army supplies. Beginning in September 1865, it issued nearly 30,000 rations a day for the next year.

The Fourteenth Amendment

The Fourteenth Amendment provided the Equal Protection Clause. The Equal Protection Clause says that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of laws. This is an attempt to secure the promise of the United States proposition that says "all men are created equally."
